Scientific studies confirm the effectiveness of Sterylis
Sterylis, developed by MILOO-ELECTRONICS, eliminates SARS-CoV-2 virus particles present in the air in closed rooms where people stay. A study confirming the effectiveness of the device was carried out by scientists from the Jagiellonian University at the covid wards of hospitals in Bochnia and Cracow.
Air samples, equipment filters, as well as masks and the immediate surroundings of patients hospitalised in patient rooms were analysed in detail. Samples were taken both before and after the application of UV-C disinfection. This is the first study of its kind in the world.
The results confirmed that Sterylis effectively destroys the airborne pathogen responsible for the largest pandemic in over a century. For this purpose, the device uses, among others, UV-C emitters and so-called light traps with laboratory-measured safety. This allows continuous (24h/7), safe disinfection of the air and reduction of the coronavirus in rooms where people stay.
– The virus is eliminated from the air by the device – says Anna Różańska, PhD, from the Department of Infection Control and Mycology at the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Microbiology, Jagiellonian University.
– Its presence was confirmed on the face side of the patients’ surgical masks. It was also present on the inlet, pre-filter with which the air present in the room was introduced into the Sterylis device. Once the air had passed through the device, after UV-C irradiation, the assay was negative on the outlet filter. All confirmations of the presence of coronavirus were made with the PCR method – adds Anna Różańska.
– The main advantage of these devices is their effectiveness – says Jarosław Gucwa, MD, deputy director of the treatment department at the Bl. Marta Wiecka County Hospital in Bochnia-In those places in which they operate there is no horizontal transmission, which means there is no more cases of infection between patients, like it used to be. The second important thing is the ease of use and the cost of operation. Practically speaking, we plug them in and they work. We do not use fumigants, which significantly reduces our costs. When we have air disinfection and surface Sterylis ation it is enough for us to operate.
Sterylis purifies the air with two filters. It disinfects the air inside the unit with UV-C radiation with a wavelength of 254 nanometres (most effective against microorganisms). It can also Sterylis e surfaces and air with ozone (O3) and deozonate, i.e. accelerate the breakdown of ozone to oxygen (O2).
Sterylis safely emits a dose of UV-C radiation up to several times higher than that which destroys coronavirus. The effectiveness of the device’s methods has also been tested under laboratory conditions against other pathogens. In laboratory tests it was confirmed that Sterylis reduces the number of fungi, moulds and bacteria in the air, including drug-resistant bacteria responsible for so-called nosocomial infections.
